I'm just this guy... y'know? :)
Racism on the hallowed turf? Sledging? Unsportsmanlike behaviour? Cricketing ethics have changed over the past 50 years out of all recognition since the phrase “It’s just not cricket” entered the language as an indication that something unfair or unethical had taken place. Currently the Indian team touring Australia are sulking in a corner, considering packing … More It's just not cricket!
Finally back in the gym – way over time and way over weight… but I’m back! Had an hour on the treadmill which nearly killed me but at least I was there. I ‘reactivated’ the ‘Fat man on a Diet’ blog and will start making regular entries there from today onwards. The weight gain over … More Back in the gym!
Andrew Olmstead was a soldier ‘killed in action’ in Iraq… the first American to die in 2008. He wrote a ‘final message’ to be posted in the event of his death and it was posted on his blog a couple of days ago. The news story is here http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,23016222-5007146,00.html but the full post can be … More It's not over 'til it's over… and it's never over.
As I said, I’ve spent a lot of today doing some clearing up. Trouble is my hips are now giving me hell. I’m wandering around moaning and whinging about the pain but oddly enough it isn’t seem to be having much effect other than annoying the hell out of everyone else who, to be fair, … More My hips hurt.
I think I did too much yesterday. We started taking down the decorations and in the middle I decided it was time to clear up some more of the garden by chopping back the Rosemary bush and similar totally non-essential tasks. Either way whatever I did was too much because my back is hurting – … More Tidy day!
So we enter the Hogsbreath at 5:30 p.m. or thereabouts and place the order at 5:47 p.m. I know this because it says so on the docket. We finally leave at around 8:30 p.m. In between… well lots is better left unsaid but the bare bones are clear enough. We ask for starters… they arrive. … More The Hogsbreath Cafe, Canberra – the meal,
Wow – already January 3rd 2008! I’ll bet the shops will be putting up their Easter Egg displays soon. Never too early for Easter Eggs though… even if I can’t be eating them myself for a little while. New Years Eve was a sedate affair here as I described and we did very little the … More Wow – it's just 2008 and I'm whingeing already!
We’ve had quite a good day today. Lots to eat, a fair bit to drink, an afternoon at the ice rink in the cool followed by an evening in the swimming pool which was *really* warm!! Came in and watched a really wonderful little foreign film on SBS and am quite pleased with the way … More Happy New Year!!
SO… there we were drifting into our seats at the ‘all you can eat’ restaurant after a hot and tiring day walking in the mountains. Not least because it isn’t easy hiking with no soles on your boots… but I’ve covered that before and I digress. There we are seated at the far end of … More The bride wore drag!!
We are all indeed home in one piece. A couple of possible near misses but nothing serious. However… as usual the ‘unexplainable’ met the unexpected’ and the day produced it’s share of jinx associated events. For a start I had a few ‘problems’ with my Colorado boots. I bought the boots years ago to use … More Well, well… all home in one piece!
