Copied these first few lines from the other blog… couldn’t be bothered with a total rewrite, so I *did* get to sit in the ice rink with the daughter from 6:00 a.m. ’til 8:00 a.m. freezing my butt off and blowing my nose every few seconds because of my cold… but no… I didn’t get to the gym.
One thing I *did* do after the skating was go up to the Girl Guide hut. I found out on Friday that we’d had turf laid during the week… the one week we’ve had no rain… and that nobody had been up to water it! I got up there around 9:00 a.m. or so… and got home at 2:00 p.m. and spent virtually the entire time watering. Because it was all so dry I first went over it quickly with a ‘hand soaker’ to give is a quick burst of water while it waited for a real soaking. That was followed up with the ‘soaker hose’ which gave the stuff a real drenching.
Sadly, by the time I got to the end, the starting point was already drying out. There are forecasts of showers tomorrow and some of next week so maybe I won’t have to go up again… but I’ll have to keep an eye on it. As with the last load of turf we had (which I managed to save!) it’d be sad to see it go to waste.
While I was there the local council arrived to finish off laying some asphalt around the front so now the outside at least is all bar finished. All it needs is for the seating to be finished around the camp fire and we’ll be done… except that I can already think of a dozen *other* things we could do… like hacking into the undergrowth to let the kids use the area under the trees! Will have to consider that if I ever get a few minutes free… if ever… 😦
The day was rounded off by an expedition to the local shops for food, presents for friends… and a new steamer! Our old one has been so overused, the plastic food containers are beginning to fracture and break. We got a one that Tefal make… it’s ‘collapsible’. I hope it lasts.
So at last we’re home. I started out this morning at 5:45 .am. and now it’s 7:45 p.m. No ‘exercise’… but it’s been a *long* day.
(I think I deserve these wasabi coated peas I’m eating as a snack… even tho my eyes are watering!! Wah wah, wah, wasabi!!!:))
