The other day I had a ‘renewal notice’ for a domain I own. It came from a company called Nominet UK which suggests I pay them £94 which is around AU$200. Bearing in mind I can get a renewal here for two years for AU$99 I think I might pass on that.
In fact I’m going to allow the domain to lapse altogether… it was never any use really and if someone else can make something of it, well best of luck to them.
Still… why would anyone would think someone would be willing to pay a 400% premium… let alone send them a letter asking them for the money? 🙂
