Another hot one coming!

Temeratures hereabouts are set to become the highest for a couple of years according to the pundits. They aren’t being ‘exact’ though but suggest we can expect readings in excess of 40ºC this afternoon.

Since yesterday afternoon (at 6:30 p.m.) the car thermometer showed 39ºC I think they might be a little off with their ‘records’.

As you can see from the photo the temperature yesterday (bottom of the dark line) was over 41ºC and even now at 7:45 a.m. the temperature is already above 30ºC!

I appreciate for those of you struggling in the northern hemisphere with temperatures of -15ºC this doesn’t sound like much of a hardship, but I learned very quickly after arriving in Oz that it is *far* easier to warm up than to cool down!

  1. And after struggling with some serious sub zero temps it’s now chucking it down with a venom today and because the ground is so hard there are flood warnings.

Did someone mention a plague of locusts …

  2. Bizarrely we get the same effect for the opposite reason. The ground is baked so hard that when it rains it water just runs off… and then floods those people who’ve been drought stricken and praying for rain!!

    It’s like God’s having a laugh! 🙂

  3. I do think you’re right that on balance it’s preferable to be cold and warm up as opposed to being hot and having to cool down.

Though saying that while I’d far rather run in the cold than the heat I’d much rather lie down and do nothing in the heat than in the cold.

Actually just at the moment I think I’d much rather lie down in the heat – period!!

    🙂 🙂 🙂
