The old man sends me cuttings from the hard copy media about this and that. Mostly they are informational and useful, but occasionally they are also quite amusing.
One such arrived a little while ago and I reprint it here… for reasons of which, I’m sure most of you will be aware. I can’t tell which paper this snippet arose but it goes as follows:
Why do writers write? A new theory from Bill Lawrence, owner of the pen behind Zac Branff’s hospital sitcom Scrubs.”I write because I’, insecure, because I’m depressed, angry, joyous, drunk, bored” he muses in an essay for the ‘Why We Write’ website (www.whywewriteseries.wordpress.com), “But most of all, I write because I’m full of sh*t”.
Seems to sum it up nicely! 😀
