Woohoo it’s raining again! Well ok this isn’t news. It’s been raining on and off for the past two months… tho it seems more ‘on’ than ‘off’. Can’t complain too much yet. If the dam storage levels were back up at 99% then we might have reason to moan but as it’s still only around 60% we aren’t out of the woods yet.
However while *we* aren’t complaining, last nights wild weather has caused problems for thousands of people still recovering from the storms of the past few weeks. Water poured from the heavens yesterday accompanied by a massive electrical storm. It was so bad… and so close… that for the first time in years I ran to switch off and unplug the computers in case we had a direct hit, or even a near miss that would cause a power surge.
As it happens we were ok though again we had water pouring through the roof of the verandah. I’m going to have to get up on the roof there and see if I can install some kind of ‘baffle’ to redirect the water slightly so that it doesn’t flood.
Others weren’t so lucky. Further west there was even worse weather and people who already had their homes flooded or wrecked were treated to yet another dose of natures best.
It’s still raining out there, not heavily it’s true, mostly like a heavy rain shower in the UK, but we’ll manage. At least the hail we had wasn’t as bad as it might have been. No huge lumps of ice smashing through windscreens and windows just pieces large enough to sting π
What was strange about the storm was that for most of the day we’d been having temperatures in excess of 38ΒΊC and this took us a bit by surprise.
