Lordy… yet more on dogs!

In a post on Feb 25th (Yet another dog day) I related the tale… gawd what a pun… about a dog we found wandering along the road.

We took it home, it gobbled down a bucket of boiled chicken… and I said I’d pass on an update when I took it to the vet next day.

Well there was no room for an appointment the next day with our local vey so kept it overnight. During that time it did pretty much nothing except sleep… other than throw up a couple of times. It wandered around a little… drank a little… then curled up and went back to sleep.

Eventually we *did* get it to the vet (Lewis Buckingham) who immediately assumed we wouldn’t want to keep her and told his assistant to call the pound. I*did* ask about keeping her, but having given her the once-over with his magic wand he determined there was no microchip and said that unless it went to the pound it’s wonders… if there were any… would never be able to find her.

My issue of course was that they only keep strays a week then smack… pow… gone. Then of course the dog threw up again and he noticed there was some blood mixed in with the water. That sort of settled the matter. He said she was really sick and needed specialist help he couldn’t give her… so called the RSPCA hospital and arranged for her to be picked up.

And that is pretty much where we left it. I asked the wife if we could keep her… I hate the idea of her being put down if nobody claims her… but she figures two dogs is already two too many and said no. 😀

I have to take our cat for *her* shots in a few days so I’ll ask Lewis again if he knows anything but I think he’ll just say no.

Should I follow it up… or just let go?

  1. Greetings from the state of Colorado in U.S.!
There’s nothing like Googling your own name for a little entertainment. I’m not a vet….after many years as a teacher and then as a family and alcohol-abuse counselor (hic!), I decided to collect and sell Deco and mid-20th century antiques.
    Cheers! Lewis Buckingham

  2. Well well! Hi Lewis 🙂

If my vet was in the slightest computer literate I’d pass on your email address in case you were related in some way.

But I *will* let him know you exist… just in case! 😀
