Whether because of committment, principle or sheer bloody mindedness, the US Senate has refused to agree to the Shrubket sending more troops to Vietnam… sorry Iraq.
What effect this will have on his credibility and/or the ongoing onflict is yet to be ascertained.

No real effect. Iraq was always going to go the way it has, without Saddam. Seems like we all knew that, only Bush in glorious isolation, did not. Iraq needs another Saddam. I’m betting its only a matter of time before it has one. The best we can hope for is that it will be another Saddam, rather than an extremist Islamic cleric.
