Visited a ‘gastrologist’ today… this is a *long* story whcih started 10 years ago… so I’ll write it up later.
Without trying to be delicate about it, from the mid 1990’s tp date I’ve had what apparantly is diarhoea. I say ‘apparantly’ because I think *my* definition of what it means differed from the doctors. Anyway, after some muttering and mumbling over a period of years the doctor has eventually referred me to a specialist.
I first noticed the change in my ‘functions’ at the same time I we started to eat multi-grain bread so it sort of tied in with my theory I have some sort of allergy… if not to gluten then to some other ingeredient.
Anyway, after running the recent battery of tests, the GP decided I might have ‘irritable bowel syndrome’… i.e. he had no idea what was wrong… and got this specialist to supply another viewpoint (so to speak). It seems there are all actually sorts of possibilities that could cause the symptoms ranging from bowel cancer through diverticulitis to coeliac disease.
He also said that no matter what he finds he doubts he’ll be able to stop the effects… just ameliorate them slightly. His suggestion… either to do some ‘just in case’ investigating… or more likely to raise funds to pay for his Xmas… is to stick tubes in, up and down all sorts of interesting places! This is going to require an anaesthetic… which itself is a bit of a concern…. but I figure if it rules out somethings and might confirm others it’s an acceptable risk.
So… I’m off to hospital for the day on Jan 11th. Wish me luck 🙂
The things some people will do for blog copy!
I suppose your post for the day will be entitled “Things Are Looking Up”? 🙂
I have piles of bowel jokes ready… including those about making a few enema’s along the way. It’s all a bit of a gas anyway!
