The Palm Jumeirah has to be one of the worlds great modern wonders. Built in Dubai, it is a totally artificial construction which holds huge hotels, expensive housing, and world class support facilities. Just for scale, the little yellow pimple in the middle of the ‘trunk’ is actually a hotel…!! Beautiful… but strangely pointless.
