Ouch.

First things first. The weight dropped to 133.00 kilos so going in the right direction again… even if only slightly. I ate way less yesterday but yet again neglected to drink enough liquids, and the results are why I titled this “Ouch”.

Neglecting to drink sufficient liquids can (and does) lead to constipation. The result is passing hard, compacted stools that can stretch, strain and even cut their way out, causing both pain and blood stains! Well, when I’ve used the loo over the past week I’ve noticed some blood when I wipe. This morning there was a *lot* of blood so I think the constipation has caused some issues that need immediate attention.

Currently, even when I’m sitting I can feel ‘discomfort’ so I think I really need to make sure I drink enough and probably use Movicol to try to reduce the straining and give my backside a chance to heal… hopefully.

In the meantime, whilst I think there’s no sign of Bowel Cancer, it’s worth checking up so I’m going to make a call to the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program guys. It seems people over 75 are eligible for a free “Bowel Cancer Screening Kit” every two years. Anyway, I’ll phone 0800 707 60 60 (shouldn’t there be a ‘1’ in front of that?) later on to get one sent out. I’ll also get an appt with my GP as well to have a chat.

Not a pleasant topic but this is no time to be shy.

Edit: Been reading further and it seems the kit may *not* be free for me at age 76. I’ll still call and ask and then report back...
