It’s started!

We’re finally on the way. However, as always there was a hiccough because I’d gone for an Ultrasound a few days ago and the doctor rang to ask me to go see her at 12:20. This put back my taking Pico-prep for an hour.

Still, eventually, I took it and waited. Nothing happened for an hour or two and then I exploded. I’m not going into details but it wasn’t pleasant, to say the least. I’ve had to zoom back to the loo a few times but nothing as bad as that first time. To say I hate taking this stuff is a gross understatement and the effects are just as gross.

In the meantime, the hospital sent me a text with instructions on what time to arrive etc (that’s 7:15 by the way) and what to expect. Seems I’m second on the list and the surgery takes around 90 minutes. The wife said she’d take me and wait for me to recover consciousness before leaving me to suffer overnight.

Basically, that’s it. ate too much yesterday, probably as a last-ditch panic, but it could have been worse. I hope this hasn’t made it difficult for the surgeon to work. It’d be a tragedy if he had to abort due to my liver still being too fat for him to work around.

Whatever, tomorrow we see. Let’s just hope it all goes well. Fingers crossed for a good and (virtually) painless result. 🙂

Edit: I’ve been reading the support group again. Apparently, the first day after the surgery is *hell*. I mean *really* painful and makes everyone get “buyer’s remorse”. I might not be able to drink anything either… possibly nil by mouth except for ice chips. Otoh, I’ll be expected to get up and walk around the ward 20 min after arriving back after surgery. This is going to be *so* much fun!! Not backing out tho!!
