It was “Father’s Day” in Australia yesterday and I rather lost my head a bit because of it. It was pretty much a lazy day in some ways in that I did things I wanted to do that might not seem so important to anyone else. For example, I cleaned off the floor in my walk-in wardrobe which I’ve been meaning to do for months. Sounds silly but I wanted to do it so did.
My daughters had taken me out to see a “Simon and Garfunkel Tribute” act a couple of weeks ago for Father’s Day along with a meal so wasn’t expecting anything extra, However, my youngest thought we should ‘do something’ so went off for dinner and a movie. The movie, “Haunted Manion” was quite funny but not exactly in the league of Lord of the Rings for example, but was ok for an evening’s relaxation.
We had dinner before the movie at a local restaurant called Criniti’s which has a menu with over 100 items… all pretty good. Again, not high cuisine but usually *very* acceptable.
Because it was a ‘celebration’ of sorts, and I was feeling a bit heady after getting the go-ahead for the operation I lost my head a bit and decided to have an Aussie Burger… my first burger in many years. My usual experience with burgers has been from places like McDonald’s or Burger King but this was in a totally different league entirely.
The Criniti’s “Australiano Burger is made from a Wagyu beef patty, tasty cheese, caramelised onion, bacon, grilled pineapple, lettuce, and beetroot and comes with ‘hot chips and dips’ (BBQ sauce & aioli). I don’t know if the burger was really as spectacular tasting as I thought, or was it because I’ve not really had ‘proper’ food for weeks, but I wolfed it down and loved every mouthful. I’m going to remember it for a *long* time. For $25 it’s not cheap, but it was certainly well worth it.
So why am I rambling on about it? Well, it was a lovely evening out with my daughter to start with… but also because my weight rocketed up to 153.9 kilos… erk!! I suppose I’ll lose a lot of it over the next day or two but right now I still feel a bit full. Still, I think I can get back to the diet and, to be honest, I think it really was worth abandoning all control for one night to be able to relax and have a guilt-free meal.
