The increase in dosage from 0.25 to 0.5 does seem to have produced a few unpleasant side effects, or at least I *think* it has. The problem is that alongside starting the Ozempic injections, I also discontinued the daily Nexium tablets which were controlling the GORD (Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease) which I’ve had for many years and caused by my constant overeating! Throughout the day, I managed to eat my meals, shakes etc, despite feeling quite nauseous, and the feeling persisted overnight. I’ve been waking as if I need to be sick, but so far haven’t actually done so.
If the problem is the injections, then the side effects should diminish over the next week or so. If it’s the Nexium, they won’t. Short term I think reintroduce the Nexium to my medications and see what happens. If the symptoms are alleviated or disappear then the issue was the Nexium. If they remain, the problem was the Ozempic. I may not be able to do anything about them directly, but at least I’ll know, or have a much better idea at least. π
I should point out in relation to the GORD that there are several foods that I should have been avoiding all this time in order to alleviate the problem. The list includes coffee, alcohol, fatty or spicy foods and pepper, drinks containing caffeine, soft drinks, citrus fruit juices, chocolate and peppermint. I’m UK born so drinking strong tea and coffee is something I’ve done since I was a child. My favourite ‘spicy’ dish is currently Laksa, but I adore Indian cuisine and the range of spices you can add to their meals is something I’d find hard to give up. Likewise pepper, especially fresh ground black. It adds to a meal. Chocolate? Seriously? How can anyone give up chocolate??
I mean let’s get serious here!! Could I stop *all* of those?? I suppose I’ll just have to try and see what happens. At the very least a lifelong caffeine addiction is something to address… which will be difficult, to say the least! π
As an ‘aside’, and veering off at a weird tangent, I notice WordPress has introduced an ‘Ai assistant’ to assess the content etc of the posts (if desired) and suggest alterations to make the writing more readable. I tried it on this post and here’s what it came up with! Quite interesting I thought. Maybe I should have used it on some of my earlier ramblings?? π
Ai Assistant Content Assessment…
The content describes the author’s experience with unpleasant side effects after increasing the dosage of Ozempic injections while discontinuing Nexium tablets. The author is unsure whether the side effects are caused by the injections or the lack of Nexium. They plan to reintroduce Nexium to their medication and observe the symptoms. Additionally, they mention that certain foods should be avoided to reduce the symptoms of GORD, but express reluctance due to personal preferences.
Although the content effectively conveys the author’s experience, it would benefit from the following actions:
1. Clarify the purpose of the post, such as seeking advice or sharing personal experience.
2. Provide more information on the potential side effects of Ozempic and the recommended dosage adjustment process.
3. Expand on the reasons behind discontinuing Nexium and the potential interactions between the medications.
4. Specify the duration of observation to determine whether the symptoms are caused by the injections or Nexium.
5. Explore alternative methods to manage GORD symptoms aside from medication, if applicable.
6. Consider discussing the situation with a healthcare professional for personalized advice.
Remember to consult a healthcare professional for guidance on medication adjustments and managing GORD symptoms.
