Starting on the path: the diet begins

As I said in the previous post, Dr Brancatisano told me I must lose at least 10 kilos before he’ll even consider me as a candidate for the Gastric Sleeve surgery. Obviously, I’ve made a start. I ordered a lot of OptiFast shakes and soups and dinners by Lite n Easy but until they arrive have other options. For example, yesterday for breakfast I had two small slices of ham with an egg on each and a sliced tomato all fried in the tablespoon of olive oil I’m allowed today, breakfast today turned into brunch because I wasn’t hungry but I ate, again, 2 eggs, but served up with two slices of bacon I found at the back of the fridge and two plum tomatoes out of a tin! Both meals were quite acceptable. Lunch yesterday was a protein bar and a bowl of Laksa, also filling.

I’ve always believed it’s essential to start the day with a reasonably sized breakfast to set you up for the day. In fact, there is research to support the idea it actually helps you lose weight. This report (https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/medical-myths-all-about-weight-loss#1.-Skipping-breakfast-aids-weigh-loss) explains that it’s a myth that missing breakfast is an aid to weight loss. In fact, people who skipped breakfast during both childhood and adulthood tended to have larger waist circumferences, higher fasting insulin levels, and higher total cholesterol levels.

Anyway, moving along. I decided I’d weigh only once a week on Sunday morning, and even though I only started the dier last Thursday, U was pleasantly surprised to see my weight had dropped by 2 kilos! No idea if this will keep up, but if I *did* continue to lose 2 kilos a week, I could lose the required amount in 5 weeks!! We’ll persevere and let you know what happens.
