Cilla Black… not too shabby

I’ve been listening to a local radio station called 2CH which specialises in playing *really* golden oldies… Sinatra, Crosby and the like. This is mainly because of the oldies who like that sort of stuff, but also ‘cos I actually like a lot of it myself.

However, a part of their music mix is derived from the early 1960’s and recently they’ve been playing Cilla Black’s two major hits… “You’re my world” and “Anyone who had a heart”.

Thing is that listening to them again after 40 years the strength of her voice shows through. She was never a great diva by any stretch of the imagination… but those two songs might have been written for her, she performs them so well.

I must be getting old… I can *hear* her youth in the way she sings and articulates the words. Awww… used to like old ‘Killer Cilla’… she can’t sing for toffee now, but even so she’s had a pretty good career… she also left me with a liking for girls in ‘Empire Line’ dresses 😀
