Had a really quiet time over the weekend all in all. Despite doing a load of stuff… it seems not having the kids there to stress the wife out made it easier all round. Without them for her to shout at peace reigned 🙂
We did a lot of gardening. We bought replacement pot, mandarin bush and some annuals to replace the one broken by the garbos last week. Also bought a tree fern to plant where we had a sad looking orange tree that hadn’t grown since it was planted by our ‘landscaper (cough spit…).
For some reason we also bought two avocado trees… no idea why… there’s nowhere to put them! 🙂 I think one will be able to exist happily enough in the front beds… but the other?? Right now I have *no* idea where we can put it sensibly… the original idea I had won’t work as I’d misjudged totally how much room there was. Anyone need an avocado tree?? 😀
We’ve done this before… sometime last year I went out and bought two apple trees… and had nowhere sensible to put them either, even so in they went. Neither has produced an apple yet of course… but what the hell.
The old orange tree is now sitting in a pot… it’s only 18 inches tall despite being three years old. What little root structure it had was rudely hacked by the wife who had to uproot it when she planted the tree fern. Maybe the new conditions will let the tree survive… who knows. Only time will tell
Then we were out grocery shopping… and spent the usual fortune… and went to pick up the kids from the buses when they returned.
Sounds really dreadful when you see the day laid out like that but it really was a very pleasant weekend.
