Loads going on next Sunday for the 75th Aniiversary of the opening of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. To commemorate the day the bridge is going to be closed for the day to allow the public… i.e. ‘us’ to walk along the actual roadway.
We boked in to do the walk in the late afternoon, around 5:30, so we’d not be too hot… and of course could be sure the oldies were up in time to get there. I’ve already told the old man we need to *leave* at 8:30 a.m. in order to be there to ‘see the sights’ and be able to park somewhere sensible.
The idea is to either park in our usual spot under Darling Harbour, or over at the Powerhouse Museum car park, spend the day wandering around looking at ‘stuff’, catch a ferry to the far side of the bridge then do the walk which will bring us back to the area where the car is parked. Hopefully this will mean nobody is too exhausted at the end of it.
Having said that, the walk alone is at least 3.6 kilometres so there’s no surety the old man will be able to make it all the way across. We’ll be taking a collapsible chair with us in case we have a collapsible old man to handle… and lot’s of water as well just in case! 🙂
