The oldies… getting worse?

As uaual went out for my walk this morning… I’m sure I have a cold, was sneezing and coughing all the way around. Got back feeling rough but managed to get the kids to school on time.

Actually that was highlighted by the eldest who announced that she was going on a school excursion to see the Archibald Prize exhibition in the Art Gallery of NSW in Sydney and needed a clipboard… could I get one for her please. Errr… ok… from where?
As it happens, we *do* have a few from our college days, but they’ve been tucked away in the garage with all the other junk we’ve accumulated and I was *not* trying to sort *that* mess out just to find a clip board… so we left evenearlier than usual to go get her one from the newsagents.

What has all this to do with the oldies? Well it’s linked to the incipient memory loss all of us seem to be suffering from.

I got back from school at 8:30… but still feeling sick, I crawled off back to bed making a mental note to get up at 10:30 to get the old lady to her doctors appointment. The old man had reminded me the night before so somehow… for a change… it stuck.

At 10:00 I duly awoke… staggered downstairs and after some delay we piled into the car and got to the doctors at 11:10. I went in ahead to announce their arrival.. and was told no appointment was listed. In fact the doctor we made the date with wasn’t even there today!

She checked… and sure enough the appointment is for 11:00 *tomorrow* morning. So we slunk off home feeling a bit silly…. 🙂

It just struck me as significant that the daughter is showing signs of this even before she hits puberty. Methinks this ain’t a good sign… I hope it isn’t a portent of the future!!
