So… I’m sure I mentioned our Labrador is an idiot? Well in the rambling post about the dog we found I forgot to mention that whilst she was here… no more than two days… Stupid managed to damage my mothers leg.
When the temporary dog arrived I think it reminded mum of her old Jack Russel ‘Butch’ even though this was more fox terrier than anything. Anyway, she decided it ought to be on her lap so up it went.
Stupid of course recognised that this dog was a bitch, had had puppies… and of course was far smaller than him so must be ‘available’. Despite constant vigilance, eventually he decided to try to get at her and in the process managed to leap on my mothers leg.
The skin on her leg is *very* thin so his weight on it was enough to more or less slough off a piece about two inches square. This was a Sunday so couldn’t do much about it… but next day we went to the doctor who anaethsetised the area and then pulled the skin back over the wound. He held it all together with surgical strips then bandaged it.
That was a week ago and she went back today to get the dressing changed.
In the intervening period, whilst the skin was healing nicely she’d developed a slight infection in the wound so is now on antibiotics to counter it.
Tomorrow we’re off to the Dept of Immigration… this is yet another story… gee we lead *such* exciting lives!! 😀
