I’ve been reading David’s account of his appaling treatment in the hands of the USA and their brutality over the period of his confinement. Some of it can be read here, but there is more in other places.
Much of it is corroborated by other prisoners and more tellingly Americans themselves who served in Guanta’amo, especially Sean Baker who is mentioned in the story.
Sean was a military policeman impersonating a prisoner who was so badly beaten by his ‘associates’ that he suffered permanent brain damage. If this isn’t proof positive that Davids complaints aren’t valid then what is?
Our government is an embarrassment. David needs to be pulled from that hell-hole immediately. The issue of his detention has become an issue in the Federal elections and may well be enough to force John Howard from power. Why he can;t see this is anyone’s guess but it looks like he’s lost touch with what the moral majority want… especially when it comes to how they feel they or their children will be supported by our government if in trouble overseas.
David has now been charged with ‘giving material support for terrorism’… and this is all they can charge him with after 6 years? It’s a national disgrace.
