A female member of the sister forum has been missing for a week or so. Today we learned why.
While walking home with her husband after an Australia Day show, on a crowded footpath and not far from home, they became separated. She crossed the road to look for him and was grabbed from behind by some lout.
He proceeded to drag her into the bushes, bash her and try to rape her. She fought back and managed to escape. Despite the crowds her obvious injuries and distressed state, nobody helped her and she had to make her own way home where she collapsed. She was rushed to hospital badly injured with broken bones and internal bruising.
You have to be amazed at this sort of brazen attack carried out while hundreds of people were in the vicinity… but maybe this guy was aware nobody would help. It’s well known that in situations where there is ambiguity, people will simply *not* intervene… but the result and the reality is that a 52 year old woman spent days in hospital injured, might have been raped or worse… yet was all bar abandoned by society.
