With voter support dropping to levels not seen since the heady days of Nixon’s foray into Watergate, George Bush, aka shrublet, aka Dubya is desperately trying to win back some credibility for his lame duck administration.
He may still be the most powerful man in the world but he is still subject to voter pressure. For a start it might mean the end of his arrogant refusal to accept the tenuous reality of his political position. To this end, he has decided to try to win back some support by suddenly becoming ‘Green’.
After years of refusing to make any concessions to the outcries of concern about global warming he has decided to try to rally support by appearing to climb on the environmental bandwagon. To do this he is set to reveal a bold initiative that will cut down carbon dioxide emissions from cars in the USA by 20%.
Of course it’s far too little to make any real impact on the worlds climate and can be seen for what it is… a cynical move to regain voter support… nevertheless, some good might come from it and it might signal a more radical move should it raise voter support… but on past evidence I doubt it. The Bush family seems to be too deeply associated with the oil barons for that to happen.
