More revenge hanging in Iraq

Not sure what else you’d call it. Barzan Ibrahim al-Tikriti and Awad Hamed al-Bander were both hanged in Iraq yesterday in typically gruesome and incompetent fashion. In fact, so badly handled was it that Barzan (Saddam Hussein’s younger half-brother and and former intelligence chief) was decapitated by the force of the drop.

I’m not sure what the Iraqis understand of the forms of ‘western’ justice but it would appear the only lesson they’ve learned from the US led invasion is that violence begets violence.

At least this time they managed to avoid film of the incident reaching public view, though because of the requirement to hand the bodies over to relatives for burial, they were unable to hide the fact the executions had been bungled.
