It appears the demon Rumsfeld was hiding a few home truths from the prezzie, one of which is that their military expedition to Iraq is unwinnable… well d’uh!! It was clear from the start that military action in Iraq was a loser simply because it was *not* supported by the UN. The entire debacle was illegal from the start and without any form of international concensus was doomed to fail.
There are now wild rumours emanating from Washington about possible exit strategies. One of the most bizarre is that they install a ‘strong man’ to run the country “until democracy can be assured”… in other words they’ll put another dictator into the country and leave it to stand or fall… which is pretty much what was they before they invaded and killed a million people.
Good politics Georgie Boy. What a legacy to leave.
