In case you thought I was exaggerating the pollution the smoke is causing from the Blue Mountain Fires, I took a few snaps from our upper floor window. I don’t think any of them really convey just how bad it is, but they’ll have to do.

As limited as it is, I think this one really shows all I wanted to say. As you can see… to the right there is blue sky. This is because of the hot winds from the north blowing a small window in the haze of pollution. However… from that ‘line’ onwards to the left… for almost the remainder of the 360º view… the sky is that murky brown colour… as if the fire is ‘just over the hill’.
It *isn’t* just over the hill of course… it’s over 100 kilometres away yet the smoke cloud is obscuring most of the sun and sky.
What the microscopic particles of soot are doing to our lungs is anyones guess.
