The Great Marquee Company Fiasco

Sometimes you just *have* to boggle at the power of the simple e-mail πŸ˜€

A couple who are arranging their wedding got a quote from a company to erect a marquee for the reception. However they decided after looking at some of their work that they wouldn’t hire them for the affair after all.

The message they sent (by email) was as follows:

Paula and I went and viewed your marquee set-up at Devonport the other weekend and unfortunately we did not like it,so this is just to let you know we will not require your services on 7 April 2007.

Thanks for your assistance and we are sorry that it turned out this way, although we are glad we looked at the marquee prior to booking as that would have been a huge disappointment.

Reasonable enough really… the company didn’t meet their criteria so they dropped them… albeit a little rudely. However… the reply from the company was quite… interesting!!

“Hi Steve, Thanks for your reply. Your wedding sounded cheap, nasty and tacky anyway, so we only ever considered you time wasters. Our marquees are for upper class clients which unfortunately you are not.

“Why don’t you stay within your class level and buy something from payless plastics instead. Kindest Regards, Katrina.”

Wow! And this by the way was sent by the wife of the company owner… so the guy sends it to his wife… who sends it to her friends… whe send it to *their* friends… and as is the way with these things… it took aff spreading virally around the world.

Then things got silly. People from all corners of the world started sending hate mail to the company to the extent that the owner had to post an apology on his website πŸ˜€

To add insult to injury… he was also forced to sack his wife… is this getting out of hand or what?? πŸ˜€

  1. This is totaly in proportion. Let people who make stupid mistakes, and are clearly uneducated bigots feel the full weight of their actions – this man’s business will probably be cut in half for the next year, as a result, and his wife will have to learn her gossipy lesson the hard way.

    Too right.
