Sheik Taj al-Din al-Hilaly’s recent comments comparing women in western dress to uncovered meat, and men as cats unable to resist the allure is still creating controversy.
One of the important quotes from his sermon reads:
“If you take out uncovered meat and place it outside on the street, or in the garden or in the park, or in the backyard without a cover, and the cats come and eat it … whose fault is it, the cats or the uncovered meat?”
Personally I think the whole statement indicates both a *very* unhealthy attitude towards women *and* his unwillingness to believe men can, should, could, or would control themselves emotionally.
From his perspective all women who wear ‘revealing’ clothing are making themselves available and all men are seething masses of sexual urges wanting no excuse to leap upon willing or unwilling females.
If men are unable to control themselves in the face of ‘provocation’, then we might also ask how often *he* has succumbed to the allure of these wanton hussy’s who walk around with their faces uncovered.
Also, with this sort of attitude colouring his world view it might be time to ask whether the Sheik himself is in need of therapy in order to rid himself of these strange views?
