Well the Democrats have at last managed to lose their only real remaining political asset. Having dumped their leader in a treacherous back stabbing move some years ago the party’s fortunes have slumped slowly in the polls.
The problem was simple. She was far and away the best thing that happened to the party since it was created… and yet she was not what the party hierarchy wanted so for what seemed on the outside to be purely selfish reasons sacked her and installed a guy who was seen to be a drunk and a woman abuser.
Since then she has worked hard in the Senate on behalf of minorities and womens rights.
Recently she has suffered an ectopic pregnancy and was forced to take some time away from Parliament. While away she was away she says she has had time to reflect on what’s important to her and decided she needed to put her family first for a change.
She might return to politics… she might not. I hope she does. While she and I are not politically aligned she is the sort of dedicated politician that raises the bar for the others.
