Following on from the highly unusual death of Steve Irwin comes yet another almost fatal injury from a similar animal. A stingray jumped into the boat of an 82 year old Florida man stabbing him in the heart with it’s tail.
Luckily in this case the barb broke off and remained lodged very close to his heart. It was removed after a 90 minute operation and the man remains on the critical list tho he is expected to make a full recovery.
It was reported at the time of Steve Irwin’s death that had he *not* pulled the barb from his chest he might well have lived.
