You can understand it with visitors to Australia, they might not know that of the worlds ten most dangerous snakes… all ten live here. But I have to admit it… a local who is so stupid as to pick up a Death Adder thinking it’s a lizard defies belief. Let’s face it… surely even the densest of us know that a lizard has legs… don’t they?? 😀
And yet… a local Sydney man is currently fighting for live after picking up a Death Adder after thinking it was a lizard. The snake, one of the deadliest around, bit him 5 times. He had a heart attack as a result. Luckily he was able to be resusitated and was rushed to hospital where he remains on the critical list.
I have this horrible feeling that if the worst happens someone will be sending this story off to the Darwin Awards. Either way – take care, this is a dangerous country to make mistakes in.
