Chris Tolkein has spent 30 years working on editing the last of JRR Tokeins great works “The Children of Hurin”. Sadly, for those who think the tale of the ring is the be all and end all of Tokein… there is no Gollum or Hobbit to be seen from one end to the other.
I assume this story closely reflects the version already published in the ‘Histories’ of his fathers work that he has already published and if so it os one *hell* of a story relating to the struggles of the elves against the evil spreading its shadow over Middle Earth. I’m not going to reveal any of the storyline because very few people will have read the histories and so will be coming fresh to the stories.
Be warned though… these are *not* stories for the faint hearted. As a whole, or as a series of stories, it covers a *very* violent period… and even has a story of incest intertwined in the tortuous story line.
All I hope is that it’s made into a film… if so and it matches the Lord of the Rings it will be *the* masterwork of whoever is chosen to create it.
If that turned out to be Peter Jackson then I think we could be in for something very, very special.
