Dinner lately has been an al fresco affair. I fiire up our natural gas barbie and chuck whatever we have to hand on the grill without marinating basting or any of that fancy stuff. Usually serve it up with salad and or boiled spuds ‘n’ peas and get stuck in.
Tonight was no exception. Fillet steak, and some organic ‘heart smart’ burgers and chipolatas with the salad etc washed down with coke for the kids, apple juice for the wife… and the remains of a bottle of chardonnay for me… ok I know… and I’d rather have a bottle of Merlot or Shiraz, but as I’m the only one in the house who drinks wine, I feel obliged to finish one bottle before opening another… I’ll open a 2004 Jacobs Creek Merlot tomorrow π
After dinner I sat quietly listening to Classic FM playing ‘favourites’ on the radio and listened as the kids splashed and shrieked in the pool.
Admittedly this wasn’t exactly a meal for someone on a strict diet… but I *did* make a start… and anyway… this really is a lovely way to live… I really wish everyone everywhere could have as good a life as this – maybe one day they will.
In the meantime a least *I’m* happy so that’s a start π
