Had a marketing call today from someone telling me how wonderful it would be for us to join Optus. As part of the deal we’d get a free camera phone or somesuch.
Before he got all the way into his spiel, I told the guy I would never go with Optus. When he asked me why I reminded him that Optus is owned by the Singaporean government and that they hang Australian citizens. I wouldn’t take up a phone account with them if it came with $100 worth of free calls.
For the record… Singapore hung Australian citizen, and first time drug courier, Nguyen Tuong Van in December 2005. Some of us have long memories.
