In three weeks (22nd August) the three men convicted of organising and carrying out the Bali bombings that killed 88 Australians (amonst many others) will be taken to a beach at dawn, blindfolded and shot dead. I’m not sure this is desirable in the slightest.
Even leaving out my ongoing abhorrence of a death penalty, it might be a more suitable punishment to be left alive but ignored, In death they achieve marty status. Being left aline but imprisoned for the rest of their lives they become nothing.
There is a reason why life imprisonment is described as a fate worse than death.
